The dire swimmer, an except from Korranberg Chronicles article

"You could say there were two kinds of swimmers, kind of", anonymous adventurer returns to the story.
"What do you mean", I asked.
"Well, you remember I told you about that pool of necromantic water? There was this dire lion inside. We decided to lift it up. I'm not sure what were we thinking, or whose idea it was, but there you have it. We took it out from the water. It was quite a stunt to arrange!"
"And?"
"Of course, you know, it is a wild beast. I mean really wild. After recovering for a moment, it attacked us and..."
"What happened?"
"Umm... about the other swimmer, by that I mean the encounter with the gelatinous cube."
"What is that?"
"It is an ooze, a living pudding, so to say. It will stay dormant, until it will dissolve anything by engulfing it."
"You mean it was swimming in the pool?"
"Not at all. It was filling up a small room, elsewhere in the complex, with just a trapdoor on the ceiling. So if one would have dropped there, that would be like swimming in the ooze."
"So did you swim in the ooze?"
"No no, we just killed it from afar, with ranged attacks and by hanging on a rope."
"You heartless ravagers."
"Huh?"
"You just kill everything and steal anything that you can get your hands on."
"..."
"What about the dire lion then. Did you kill it, too?"
"No no, not at all! As far as I can tell, it is all well and good."
"What happened?"
"We pushed it back to the pool."

Developments

With a successful application of a dragonshard, Identify revealed the means to use the black dome. When used as an additional focus, a necromantic spell can be cast to slay a living non-intelligent creature in the pool and to create a ghost version of it. This will count as an evil act, where non-evil caster will get four negative levels.

The behir is dead. It has some items in it's nest, which is the room you are currently standing in (except Lestra, who is standing outside on a vertical wall). Unfortunately, you don't really have time to go through the loot right now because... three dots meaning we'll need to wait until the next session begins.
